The adventure so far: You are River, a Changeling Stray that got lost, beaten, and mugged as you were traveling in the North of Nuradan. You ended up in the outskirts of the remote village of Sund, and are in desperate need for shelter and supplies. You wait for the night and try to steal something, when brigands attacked the village! You want to lend a hand to the townsfolk, and sneak up to the two archers shooting from the treeline, approaching them from behind. You decided to try to render the nearest one unconscious…

Just two muffled steps and you are in range. You quickly raise the hatchet and strike the nape of the bandit with what you know being the right amount of force. The man’s body folds into the bush in front, without a word.

The other bandit, propped up the branch not too far away, turns. You can’t waste a single second, and swiftly move forward and jump to catch the leg of the bandit that was propped up the tree. He probably weighs more than you, but with the speed of the jump he is dragged off easily, and you both plunge ungracefully into the undergrowth.

Not even 10 seconds after hitting the first guy, you are on top of the second, with a hand on his mouth and your hatchet up high, menacingly. The eyes of the bandit widen, but after tensing for a moment, he releases the arrow that was still in his right hand and drops the arms to the ground.

“How many others?” you ask, in Common tongue. You take the hand off his mouth.

“Three, three…” he croaks back.

What do you do?

Gag and tie the bandit here, then run back down to help. The townsfolk might need urgent help.

Tie the bandit here, and take a moment to assess the situation. You might want to ask a few more questions to the bandit, or look downhill to see how things are going before intervening.

Tie the bandit and bring him with you as a hostage. The other bandits might stop their attack… or not care at all.

Gag and tie the bandit, then leave. You helped enough, and have now access to more weapon and gear. Time to hit the road.
