As you climb out of Whispercreek Chasm, you start hearing some voices and chatter uphill. You are still hiding in the woods, avoiding the main road that goes up a steep slope. At the top, you can make out some houses and smoke coming out of small chimneys: it’s a village!
You walk up some more, and make out the small town of Sund: just a few stone houses surrounding a central square. Many Humans are coming back from the fields as the evening approaches, getting inside their homes and warming up their fireplaces. A small group is still in the town square, and you can see they are getting worked up about something, shouting. They are gesturing towards the north, where another hill starts blending into the surrounding mountains.
You are still hiding. Changelings are a rare, exotic race that is rarely spotted around Nuradan, and a lot of legends - mostly bad ones - circulate about them. You are afraid that this remote village of Humans won’t take kindly on your default appearance.
What do you do? Pick from one of the following options:
Change into Human form and get inside the town. This will likely take up whatever energy you have left, and take several hours to accomplish. You’ll need to hide until done, and it will be nighttime.
Keep your aspect, and go into the town as a Changeling. This is more immediate and doesn’t take up your energy, but could risk you being distanced by the townsfolk, or worse.
Wait until it’s dark and try to steal some supplies. This won’t require you to change, neither to come into contact with the townsfolk - hopefully. This is the riskiest option.
Votes will run on Patreon until May 10th, 2026.
